In 1968 to honor of the founding of the fortress of Erebuni which was 2750 years old at the foot of Arin-Berd hill Erebuni museum was inaugurated that represents the Urartian and post – Urartian splendid civilizations. A monumental entrance of the museum the beautiful monument of King Arguishti and two winged lions stands.
In the museum many valuable objects of culture of Urartu are exposed: weapons, armor, cuneiform writings, cups, mugs, stamps, bronze and crystal bracelets, agate, necklace, objects that characterize the life and artistic tastes of the inhabitants of the fortress. They include also a rhyton (Greek cup shape of the horn) of silver decorated with a knight in suit of Medes (V BC) and another decoration with a silver horse (fourth century BC) discovered in 1968 beneath the Cuidadela.
Recently excavations of the fortress have resumed which still conceals many mysteries, which discovery and research will complete the history of Erebuni.
